Meet the Faces Behind the Clay

It all started at the very last minute — 14 days before Christmas 2024. We made custom plates for our family. The chaotic, joyful process and everyone’s love for those first pieces was the exact moment FUNKY FAMILY was born. It truly started with family, for family.

We are Gustė & Dylan — partners in life and creation. We met back in 2018 when we were still in school, but even then, we knew our path would be creative. Long before we ever touched clay, we spent years working as a stylist-photographer duo. We lived for organizing wild, colorful photoshoots, creating moodboards, and styling conceptual fashion projects, eventually co-creating our university graduation project together — Gustė in Image Design and Dylan in Photography.

That’s when clay found us. After graduating from college, Gustė started working at a ceramics and design shop, which became her true playground. She fell in love with the soul of handmade art — the complete opposite of the cheap, mass-produced items found in large retail chains. From managing the shop to leading clay workshops — she experienced every aspect of the field. Naturally, she couldn't stop sharing her excitement with Dylan, eventually teaching and getting him hooked on clay, too.

For us, creativity is impossible to box in. If you walked into our home, you’d instantly get who we are. Color isn't just a choice, it's a lifestyle. You can feel this energy in our personal outfits, vibrant home interior, themed parties, and playful games. All those years of analyzing composition, styling, and photography didn't disappear—it gave us the ultimate foundation to build our business and capture our brand exactly how we envision it.

We share the work just like we did on our photoshoot sets. Gustė is the visionary who runs our social media, handles marketing, and sculpts our playful pet mugs. Dylan brings his photographer’s eye to hand-crafting our plates, while managing the technical and logistical side. Our favorite moments are when we sit down to co-design and decorate together.
